This July, His Excellency Bishop Athanasius Schneider, will celebrate Mass and lead catechesis for the young adults of Juventutem at the World Youth Day festival in Krakow, Poland.
In advance of WYD, His Excellency met with Bertalan Kiss, the new President of the Juventutem federation, during a visit to Hungary.
Bishop Schneider said that in his opinion the Extraordinary Form liturgy should be viewed as
a tool in the Church’s renewal (rather than an end in itself). He also pointed out that the authenticity of a traditional community could not be measured only by its liturgy but also by the lex vivendi or community life. Community life is very important, the signs of the Holy Spirit can be seen there most easily.
In addition his recent meeting with Bertalan, during the last week of February, Bp. Schneider visited with Fr. Armand de Malleray, the Ecclesiastical Assistant to the Fœderatio Internationalis Juventutem, at St. Mary, Warrington, the Archdiocese of Liverpool parish entrusted to the Fraternity of St. Peter, last summer.
